Marc Timme, Prof. Dr. rer. nat., MA

Became TU Dresden Strategic Professor and Chair for Network Dynamics in 2017, bridging the cfaed with the Institute for Theoretical Physics. Marc is interested in building mathematical, conceptual and algorithmic foundations towards an understanding of the collective nonlinear dynamics of networks, applications fields include biological and bio-inspired technical systems, future mobility, network economy & sustainability as well as network inverse problems of inference, design, and control. Enjoys swimming, hiking, philosophy -- and science.

From Venezuela, joined in October 2017. Main research interests include network inference and other general inverse problems on networks, numerical linear algebra, novel methods for data analysis and applications thereof. Enjoys team sports and playing music.

Wen-Chuang Chou, Dr. rer.nat.

From Taiwan, joined in October 2017. Research interests include theoretical neuroscience, mainly focusing on sensory coding and processing in biological neural networks as well as artificial intelligence.  Enjoys classical music, and playing the piano.

Benjamin Schäfer, Dr. rer. nat.

From Germany, studied in Magdeburg, Göttingen, London, Tokyo. Joined November 2017. Research interests include energy systems, power grid dynamics, stochastic theory, effects of trading, network reconstruction and cascading failures. Enjoys hiking and board games.

Xiaozhu Zhang

From China, trained as an engineer in Shanghai and as a physicist in Göttingen. Joined in February 2018. Current research interests include dynamic network responses to fluctuations, pattern formation on networks, perturbation spreading and power grid dynamics. Enjoys reading and traveling.
