Losses and Learning States, patterns of desynchrony

Abstract: I discuss recent work on the impact that losses have on the non-linear dynamics of power grids. We show that the basins of asymptotic states shift dramatically when considering losses, and new patterns of desynchronization emerge.

To systematically study such patterns of desynchronization I discuss how we can apply clustering algorithms (unsupervised learning) to sampling data of the system. This reveals the patterns of desynchrony that are most prevalent in phase space.
