The stochastic characteristics of the load power as a source of fluctuations in the mains frequency

Abstract:

The mains frequency, as a central parameter, recognizes the state of a power grid. Actually if the observed frequency variations are larger than the operational boundaries, the control systems should be activated to avoid occurring outages in the system. As important sources introducing fluctuations in the frequency include renewable energies, trading market and consumers. To better understanding the effects of these sources on the power grid frequency, one should consider precisely the stochastic characteristics of them. In this talk, we focus on the investigation of fluctuations existing in the load power, and we demonstrate their stochastic nature which is inconsistent to the standard load profile introduced by energy suppliers as a daily household consumption.
