25 years of HZDR! Happy Birthday to our Cooperating Institute!

We are very pleased to congratulate our Cooperating Institute the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) on its 25th anniversary! The official anniversary ceremony took place yesterday and was attended by distinguished representatives from the Federal Government and the State of Saxony as well as the Helmholtz Association and the Leibniz Association.
The Annual Reception was also a double-event as Prof. Peter Joehnk, the Administrative Director and Director at HZDR, went after 37 successful years of work in the field of science management into well-deserved retirement.
The opening celebration speeches were held by Dr. Eva-Maria Stange, Saxony's State Minister of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Karl Eugen Huthmacher, a Head of Department in the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Prof. Otmar Wiestler, President of the Helmholtz Association, Prof. Roland Sauerbrey, the Scientific Director of HZDR, and Prof. Dr. Joachim Ragnitz, the Managing Director of ifo Dresden.
Among around 200 invited guests from science, industry and politics were also the founding Director Prof. Wolf Görner as well as the former Scientific Director Prof. Bernd Johannsen, the Deputy Mayor of Dresden, Dirk Hilbert, CDU politician Michael Kretschmer as a member of the Helmholtz Senate and Prof. Ernst Rietschel, the former President of the Leibniz Association.
