Second place for TU Dresden: The electronics consumer advice website CHIP.de has ranked TUD in the top tier of academic institutions in its latest innovations study, “Digital Innovators 2023.”
Digitization was cited as a key factor for innovation. The study examined which German companies and institutes particularly excel in terms of digital innovation, and ranked them accordingly. The number and quality of patents filed played an especially important role. TU Dresden achieved outstanding results and came in second behind the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung (Fraunhofer Society for the Promotion of Applied Research).
The TU Dresden company NaMLab – nanoelectronic materials laboratory also made it into the ranking, coming in at number 21. On behalf of the semi-conductor and microelectronics companies in Dresden, NaMLab develops innovative materials for microelectronics and nanoelectronics, including circuits based on them.

Physicist and Electrical Engineer Prof. Dr Yana Vaynzof has received a highly endowed ERC Consolidator Grant for excellent young researchers from the European Research Council (ERC). The funds will be used to support a research project in the field of metal halide perovskite materials. The overall aim of the project is the development of novel engineering approaches to control the properties of these materials and their application in electronic and optoelectronic devices. The ERC will provide approximately two million euros in funding for a five-year period. Yana Vaynzof is the Chair for Emerging Electronic Technologies at the TU Dresden and the Director of the Institute for Emerging Electronic Technologies at the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW). She was already awarded an ERC Starting Grant in 2017.

Dr. Yana Vaynzof has been appointed as a new professor for Novel Electronics Technologies at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering on January 1, 2023. In addition, the multi-award-winning scientist will take over as director of the Institute for Novel Electronics Technologies at the Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW).
