The cfaed Carbon Nano Devices group around Dr. Sascha Hermann (TU Chemnitz, Fraunhofer ENAS) found out that field effect transistors based on carbon nanotubes (CNT) experience a significant performance increase in special device structures. These developments confirm the great potential of this new technology for future radio frequency (RF) transceiver electronics.

The “COREnect” consortium (European Core Technologies for Future Connectivity Systems and Components) starts a new project on July 1, 2020, that has been selected by the European Commission through the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme. TU Dresden and Barkhausen Institute will function as the project coordinators during the whole period.

The new cfaed junior research group "Re-Learning" of the European Social Fund (ESF) investigates novel hardware-based approaches to machine learning and has now started its kick-off event in June.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding three Collaborative Research Centres (CRC) at TU Dresden with a total of around 29 Million Euros over the next four years. Among one of these three is the CRC 1415 “Chemistry of Synthetic Two-Dimensional Materials” by Prof. Dr. Xinliang Feng, who is group leader of the Chair for Molecular Functional Materials at the cfaed – Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden.
