PhD student Marcus Richter received the cfaed INSPIRE Grant and was one of the exchange students of the great!ipid4all program in 2017. These grants offered the opportunity to visit the research groups of Prof. Carlos-Andres Palma, Prof. Shixuan Du and Prof. Hong-Jun Gao at the Institute of Physics (IoP) at Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) in Beijing, China, for two months. These groups have a large experience in surface chemistry and are experts in their research fields.

On October 24 Dresden celebrates this year its 5th anniversary as a UN host city, and for this special occasion, the United Nations University-FLORES premise in Dresden is opening its doors! The impressive programme under the slogan „One World. We together. Our future“ awaits guests offering a brief insight into what “the UN” is doing every day in Dresden.
Moreover, at 12:30, as a special highlight of this event, the organizers have planned to gather as many people from the each Member State of the United Nations as possible in the Atrium of the World Trade Center. Come by and help us to get all 193 UN Member States in one spot at one time!

The TU Dresden (TUD) has extended the Center of Excellence Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden (cfaed) by a fifth Strategic Professorship. Prof. Marc Timme from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen moved to the Elbe river in July 2017 and will continue his internationally successful research in the field of network dynamics at the TUD under the umbrella of cfaed. With the beginning of the current winter semester, his first courses start in Dresden.

We are very pleased to congratulate our Cooperating Institute the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) on its 25th anniversary! The official anniversary ceremony took place yesterday and was attended by distinguished representatives from the Federal Government and the State of Saxony as well as the Helmholtz Association and the Leibniz Association.
The Annual Reception was also a double-event as Prof. Peter Joehnk, the Administrative Director and Director at HZDR, went after 37 successful years of work in the field of science management into well-deserved retirement.

The international conference Nanobiosensors: New Materials and Systems took place on 4th-5th September in Dresden, organized by the cfaed members Prof. Gianaurelio Cuniberti, Dr. Larysa Baraban and Dr. Bergoi Ibarlucea, from the Chair Materials Science and Nanotechnology (TU Dresden).
