Thanks to cfaed inspire grant, I had an opportunity to work with Anatoly Zayats who is leading one of the strong plasmonics and nano-optic groups in Europe. I work on DNA templated self-assembled plasmonic waveguides which is one of the core projects in BAC path. During my research stay, I got the chance to learn more about nanophotonics, plasmonics and near-field optical techniques. It was truly a great experience and scientifically a productive stay at King’s College London.

This workshop is organized in the context of the 5-year EU Horizon 2020 project Bio4Comp (http://bio4comp.org) that aims to develop network-based computing, and to build a strong research community around this challenge. In this approach, combinatorial problems are encoded into nanofabricated networks and solved by large numbers of molecular-motor-propelled protein filaments in so called network-based biocomputation. In this workshop, experts of quantum- and DNA computing and molecular motor-powered, network-based computing will join forces to develop new directions in biocomputation.
Participation includes conference materials and refreshments. It is cost-free but active participation is expected (poster or oral). Registration deadline: 31st July 2017.

As Chair for Adaptive Dynamic Systems of the Computer Science Department, Prof. Göhringer will be integrated in the system-oriented Paths of the Cluster, mainly the CRC HAEC. Her research interests are in the areas of: Reconfigurable Computing, Multiprocessor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoCs), Networks-on-Chip, Simulators / Virtual Platforms, Hardware-Software-Codesign and Runtime Systems. Klaus Müllen of Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P) in Mainz and Xinliang Feng of Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden / Technische Universität Dresden will be awarded the Hamburg Science Award 2017, which this year is dedicated to the subject of energy efficiency. The Academy of Sciences and Humanities thus honours the two chemists’ research in the field of graphene research. This functional material, which – due to its various properties – has since its discovery in 2004 been considered as the material of the future, is especially suitable to be used in batteries and supercapacitors.

The Hector Fellow Academy is organizing in cooperation with the Dresden University of Technology a symposium on the exciting topic of medicine 4.0. In lectures by renowned experts, organic electronics and their fields of application are examined from various perspectives and their role in the development of cutting-edge technologies on the road towards medicine 4.0 is discussed.
