Heute findet in Sachsen der GENIALSOZIAL-Tag statt. Am letzten Dienstag vor den Sommerferien tauschen Schüler und Schülerinnen die Schulbank gegen einen Job. Den erarbeiteten Lohn spenden sie und unterstützen damit soziale Projekte vor Ort in Sachsen und weltweit. Alleine an der TU Dresden gab es weit über 100 Angebote für die GENIALSOZIAL-Jobs. Am cfaed konnten wir heute Jannik, Moritz und Valentin begrüßen, die zwischen 14 und 15 Jahren alt sind. Sie konnten in verschiedene Bereiche unserer Verwaltung und Forschung hineinschauen, zum Beispiel bei unserer IT, aber auch in den Laboren des Lehrstuhls für Organische Bauelemente und des Dresden Center for Nanoanalysis (DCN).

The first cfaed´s Career Symposium took place on 9 May, 2017 in Dresden and provided the participants with necessary ingredients for a successful career. The event focused on the variety of individual ways to develop one's career after the graduation or PhD.
The program consisted of an interactive bonding session, inspiring career talks, the chance to take professional application photos and have the application documents checked. Furthermore, all participants used the opportunity to get a lot of insights in how to become a leading personality, to enhance your networking skills and to emphasize your personal strengths. In other words, to find the chili in your individual career, that one extra spice that makes your dish so special!

TUD's Chair for Materials Science and Nanotechnology and cfaed are jointly organizing an international conference on Nanobiosensors. This conference will host international experts in the field of nanotechnology and biosensors. We are pleased to congratulate cfaed Strategic Professor Xinliang Feng (Chair for Molecular Functional Materials) for being selected as one of two winners receiving the 2017 Small Young Innovator Award. Prof. Feng was distinguished for his significant contributions to 2D nanomaterials research. The inauguration ceremony took place on May 16 during the "Small Science Symposium" in Hong Kong, co-organized by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Wiley. The award is endowed with a certificate and a USD 1,000 purse.
The Small Young Innovator Award recognizes outstanding, interdisciplinary scientific work in the development and fundamental understanding of nanoscience and nanotechnology by a young scientist or engineer. The award winner must also show exceptional promise as a developing leader in the areas of nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Aus den Händen von Sachsens Ministerpräsident Stanislaw Tillich erhält Frau Professor Dr. Brigitte Voit am 29. Mai 2017 den Sächsischen Verdienstorden. Mit dieser höchsten staatlichen Auszeichnung des Freistaates Sachsen werden Menschen geehrt, die sich im politischen, wirtschaftlichen, kulturellen, sozialen, gesellschaftlichen oder ehrenamtlichen Bereich in herausragendem Maße engagiert haben.
Prof. Voit ist Principal Investigator im cfaed und stellvertretende Leiterin des Forschungsbereiches "Chemical Information Processing".
